Directing technology in a terminal that cannot stop

Eight years of our operating lead directing the IT function of a container terminal, before founding AITSS: terminal operating systems, integration with corporate platforms and industrial cybersecurity, in an operation that bills by the hour.

Why this sector demands another level of judgment

A container terminal runs continuously. The terminal operating system coordinates yard, quay, cranes and documentation: if it stops, cargo movement stops, and every idle hour turns into penalties and into a supply chain that breaks at the next link. There is no comfortable maintenance window, and no margin for a deployment that goes wrong.

That context forces a different way of deciding. The question stops being which technology is better and becomes how much interruption the business tolerates, what can be reversed, and in how long. It is the same judgment a board needs in order to approve a high-impact investment, and it is what AITSS brings.

Technical domain

  • Terminal operating systems (TOS): operation, integration and modernization of the platforms that lead the sector, including NAVIS N4.
  • Integration with the business systems: connecting the operational systems of yard and quay with the invoicing system and the customer management portal.
  • Industrial cybersecurity (OT): hardening automation networks and control systems under ISA/IEC 62443.
  • IT governance and operations: frameworks applied under COBIT and ITIL 4, and information security management with ISO 27001 as the reference standard.
